Direct transfer content

In the paired sharing workspace, text, chat, filenames, and file bytes are sent between your browsers through an encrypted WebRTC data channel. CopyPaster does not save that transfer content on its server. A configured TURN relay may forward encrypted traffic when the browsers cannot connect directly.

Received content is held in the browser tab until it is cleared or the tab closes. A recipient can copy or download content; those copies are outside the sender's control. Closing the tab does not delete downloaded files or erase the operating system clipboard.

Pairing and connection information

The server temporarily processes device names, hashed pairing credentials, connection descriptions, and network candidates to connect the two browsers. Connection descriptions can include network addresses. Invitations expire after five minutes and can be claimed once; sessions expire after one hour or end when disconnected. This negotiation state is held in process memory and is lost if the service restarts.

Request network information is used for abuse prevention and rate limits. Hosting, STUN, and TURN services may process connection metadata, including IP addresses. Direct peer connections can reveal network addresses to the other participant.

Clipboard access

Clipboard actions depend on browser permissions. Automatic sharing is optional and operates while the page is active and clipboard access is permitted. Enable it only with a device you intend to receive your clipboard, and switch it off when you finish.

Private notes

Private notes are a separate feature. Note text is encrypted in your browser before its encrypted payload is stored for delivery. The private link carries the information needed to decrypt it. Private notes follow the expiration and one-time reading controls shown in that tool, rather than the direct transfer session lifecycle.

Advertising data

Google AdSense may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers to serve, measure, and protect advertising. Google and its partners may place or read cookies in your browser according to your consent choices and applicable law.

Your choices

Share pairing invitations only with your intended recipient. Disconnect when finished, clear received content, and manage clipboard permissions in your browser. Browser and Google settings provide controls for advertising cookies where available.
