CopyPaster provides three focused tools inside each public-IP room. They are designed for temporary transfers between devices that share the same public internet route.
Shared text
Paste notes, URLs, code snippets, or other plain text up to 20,000 characters. Changes synchronize with other browsers in the same room.
Temporary files
Upload PNG, JPG, WEBP, PDF, TXT, or DOCX files up to 10 MB. Files can be downloaded by room participants and expire automatically after one hour.
Room chat
Exchange short messages during a transfer or troubleshooting session. Use the clear control when the conversation is finished.
Private notes
Send an end-to-end encrypted note through a private link. The text is encrypted in your browser, never reaches our servers, and is destroyed after it is read or when it expires. This is a separate, link-based tool — it does not use the public-IP room.
Create a private noteWhich tool should you use?
Reach for shared text when the thing you are moving is already text: a URL you want to open on the other device, a Wi-Fi password for a guest, an error message you are about to paste into a search box, or a snippet of code. It is the fastest of the four because there is nothing to upload and nothing to download — the text is simply there when the other browser refreshes.
Use temporary fileswhen the content cannot survive as plain text: a screenshot, a scanned page, a PDF someone needs to sign, a photo you want off your phone. The one-hour expiry is deliberate. It keeps rooms from accumulating other people's leftovers, and it means a forgotten upload cannot resurface weeks later on a network you no longer control.
Use room chatwhen two people are working through a transfer together and need to say something that is not itself the payload — "got it", "try the second file", "wrong room key". Use private notes whenever the content would be damaging in the wrong hands, because it is the only tool here that does not rely on the room being private.
Limits at a glance
- Shared text: 20,000 characters per room.
- Files: 10 MB each, in PNG, JPG, WEBP, PDF, TXT, or DOCX format.
- Files are deleted from storage automatically one hour after upload.
- Text, files, and chat can also be cleared by hand at any time, which removes them for everyone in the room immediately.
